Insert the date, time or place without leaving the keyboard
A practical guide to Quick Kibo's date/time and place keys, format choices, permissions and failure states.
A message such as “I arrived at 3:15” or a field report often needs a time or place at the moment you are writing. Quick Kibo has dedicated keyboard actions for the current date and time and for the current location. They insert text into the active field, so you can check the result before sending. The keys are among the quick actions above the keyboard; the row can scroll horizontally, so swipe it if a key is not visible.
Tap the clock for a current value
The date/time action inserts the current value using the format selected in the keyboard. This is useful for a diary heading, a delivery note or a timestamp in a personal log. It uses the device clock at the moment of insertion, not a saved date that might have gone stale. The app renders localized date formats according to the keyboard's active language. Look at the inserted text before sending it, particularly when the recipient expects a specific order of day and month.
Hold the clock to choose a format
Press and hold the date/time action to open its format choices. The available formats include date with time, time alone, date alone, day and month, weekday and an ISO-style timestamp. The choices show examples so you can see what will be inserted. Some format choices are part of the paid tier; the default insertion remains available. If a format appears locked, select an available one or review the app's current purchase information. A timestamp is text in your message, not a calendar event or a verified record of when the message was delivered.
Tap the location key when you need to share where you are
The place action asks for a current location reading and inserts a textual result. The free default is coordinates. Other presentation formats and saved places may be available with the paid tier. The keyboard requests the reading when you press the key rather than continuously adding location to everything you type. A location value can still be imprecise, especially indoors or when the device has a poor fix. Read the inserted text and the recipient before sending it, and use a map when exact navigation matters.
Understand the two permission checks
Location insertion requires Quick Kibo keyboard Full Access and the iOS location permission for the app. These are separate controls. If Full Access is off or location access was denied, the keyboard reports the blocker instead of producing a place value. The containing app handles the iOS location permission prompt, so you may need to open the app or Settings to grant it. If the device cannot get a reading in time, try again from a better signal location. Date/time insertion does not depend on a location reading.
Choose the right precision for the task
Coordinates are a compact way to state a position, but not everyone can read them easily. An address or city is easier for a person to understand when a reverse lookup succeeds, yet it can be approximate or unavailable. Choose the format that matches your audience and verify it before sharing. Avoid placing your precise current location in a public post or large group chat by habit. For a private check-in, confirm that the displayed position is near where you actually are.
Use the keys as writing aids, not proof
These keys reduce the steps needed to add context to text. They do not certify a date, prove a visit or replace an emergency location-sharing service. For records that require strict time zones, coordinates or an audit trail, use the system or professional tool designed for that purpose. For everyday messages, a quick tap followed by a visual check is the practical workflow.
Frequently asked questions
Does the location key read my position all the time?
The product information and location provider code describe a reading requested when you press the location key.
Why did the place key not insert anything?
Check Full Access and iOS location permission. A weak or unavailable position can also produce a retryable failure.
Can I choose a different date format?
Hold the date/time key to see example formats. Some choices may require the paid tier.
