Does Reduce White Point affect your iPhone keyboard theme?
Reduce White Point is not a flag a keyboard can quietly ignore the way Reduce Transparency is — it dims the intensity of whatever bright colors are already on screen, keyboard theme and RGB lighting included, without touching hue the way Grayscale does or flipping light and dark the way Invert Colors does.

What Reduce White Point actually is
The switch lives at Settings → Accessibility → Display & Text Size → Reduce White Point, a single toggle rather than a menu of options. Apple describes it plainly: it reduces the intensity of bright colors. It exists for people sensitive to strong light or high-contrast bright screens — a genuine trigger for some migraines, and a common comfort setting for anyone who finds a pure white background or a saturated, high-brightness color physically uncomfortable to look at, not a battery or performance setting despite the word “reduce” in its name. Like Grayscale, it can be added to the Accessibility Shortcut, so triple-clicking the side button toggles it without opening Settings at all.
A filter over the finished image, not a flag apps opt into
Settings such as Reduce Transparency, Bold Text and Increase Contrast, covered in separate guides on this site, are flags other software has to check for itself and choose to honor — iOS applies them automatically only to the interface it draws itself, and a third-party keyboard’s own theme is untouched by any of them unless its developer specifically wrote code that reacts to the flag. Reduce White Point does not work that way. It sits in the display pipeline below the layer where any app or keyboard extension draws its own pixels, dimming the brightest, most intense parts of the finished screen image after everything on screen — system menus, photos, a keyboard’s theme — has already been drawn. How this differs from Grayscale and Invert Colors
The other two color-transform settings on the same Accessibility screen both change what a color fundamentally is: Grayscale strips the hue out entirely and leaves only brightness, Invert Colors flips light and dark as well as hue. Reduce White Point does neither. It leaves hue alone and leaves the light-versus-dark relationship alone — a dark theme still reads as dark, a light one still reads as light, and a pink stays recognizably pink. What it pulls down is narrower and more specific: the ceiling on how intense the brightest colors and the purest whites on screen are allowed to get. A saturated neon theme keeps its identity under Reduce White Point in a way it does not under Grayscale or Invert Colors — it just never quite reaches full, eye-straining intensity at the top end.
What this looks like on a themed keyboard
A bright theme’s most saturated colors — a hot pink key fill, a pure white backdrop, a neon cyan accent — come out slightly softened rather than at their normal peak intensity, while a muted or dark theme barely changes at all, since it was never pushing toward that ceiling in the first place. RGB lighting effects are where the difference is easiest to notice: a reactive effect that blooms at full brightness the instant a key is pressed blooms a little less intensely, and a continuous effect cycling through a rainbow of hues keeps its exact colors and its exact motion, just capped short of its brightest moments. Nothing stops moving and nothing loses its hue — the animation and the color identity are both intact, only the peak intensity is turned down.
What does not change
Reduce White Point is a purely visual adjustment, so it has nothing to say about anything that is not a pixel. Key sounds keep playing exactly as configured, at whatever volume the ring/silent switch and ringer volume allow, and haptic feedback keeps firing on the same keypresses it always did. A keyboard dimmed by Reduce White Point can still click, thock or chime precisely the way it did before — the two systems are unrelated, and this setting only ever touches the one that draws pixels.
